For Immediate Release: Griffin Museum of Photography Presents Transcendence: Awakening the Soul- Photographs by Xuan Hui Ng
Winchester | December 13, 2023 – January 7, 2024
Acclaimed photographer Xuan Hui Ng presents Transcendence: Awakening the Soul, 唤醒灵魂,超越自我, a photographic exhibition that invites viewers to embark on a profound journey of healing, hope, and rediscovery. This showcase celebrates the ethereal beauty of nature through Xuan Hui Ng's lens and opens a window into the artist's remarkable path of personal transformation.
Xuan Hui Ng, originally from Singapore and currently residing in Japan, found solace and inspiration in photography during a time of deep grief. Her mother's battle with cancer and eventual passing left her adrift, until a chance encounter with the natural world rekindled her spirit. “Transcendence” captures the essence of this transformation, reflecting the awe-inspiring grandeur of nature that became Xuan Hui's source of comfort.
Xuan Hui's photographs are a testament to the profound connection between humanity and the natural world, embodying the Chinese idiom "天时地利人和," emphasizing the importance of fortuitous timing, favorable conditions, and human resolve. Through her lens, viewers are invited to share in the serendipitous encounters, fleeting moments, and lasting memories that have guided her healing and growth.
The artist's dedication to the weary, the lost, and the lonesome, shines through in each image, which are just as vast as they are intimate. Transcendence: Awakening the Soul is not only a celebration of Xuan Hui Ng's personal journey but an opportunity for all to connect with the transformative power of nature, and the beauty of the Japanese landscape.
The exhibition will be open to the public from December 13, 2023 to January 7th, 2024 at The Griffin Museum of Photography.
