Winchester Community Music School (WCMS) is pleased to announce the return of MusicFest, its annual fall open house, on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 2-4 p.m., 407 Highland Ave.
All are welcome to attend this free event and to enjoy an afternoon filled with fun, family-friendly activities such as a scavenger hunt, instrument demos, and more.
Visitors will be able to experience and interact with a wide array of musical instruments during “meet the instrument” sessions led by WCMS teaching artists. From the resonating tones of a timpani to the delicate strings of a violin, attendees can discover what makes each instrument special and unique.
MusicFest is also a wonderful opportunity to explore the many teaching studios and performance spaces throughout the school’s beautiful historic building. Try out a cello, play a piano, sing along with a voice teacher, and stop by the recording studio to help make digital sound effects!
“Our goal with MusicFest is to foster a love of music and provide a welcoming environment for our community to learn about all that WCMS has to offer,” said Laurie Russell, executive director of Winchester Community Music School. “It’s a day filled with excitement, education, and the joy of music-making.”
Faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions about group classes, ensembles, and private lessons available for children, teens, and adults.
Auditions for many fall ensembles (rock, jazz, classical, and bluegrass) will be held during MusicFest; visit the website to sign up for an audition slot. Fall semester at WCMS begins the week of Monday, Sept. 9.
