A grassroots organization, Indivisible Winchester, has launched in response to growing concerns about the state of American democracy. Dedicated to electing bold leaders who will defend our democracy, safeguarding individual liberties, and fighting against the Trump agenda.

Indivisible Winchester is the local chapter of the nationwide Indivisible movement, which was initiated in 2016 in response to the election of Donald Trump.

The group, which is open to people of all political stripes, will focus on advocacy, issue-oriented action and educational programs.  Indivisible Winchester will share information with its members through a website, meetings and monthly newsletters. The group plans to foster connections with national and regional Indivisible organizations.

Residents from Winchester and surrounding towns are encouraged to get involved and make their voices heard.

Indivisible Winchester’s Steering Committee, and founding members, includes seasoned activists and those new to political action. They share a commitment to effective advocacy, and a belief that a coalition of individuals working together can make a difference. There is strength in community.

The committee is particularly focused on creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for citizens who want to take peaceful, effective, and respectful action.

According to Steering Committee member Eve Coffey, “We are responding to concerns from friends and neighbors who believe our democracy is under threat and want to fight back. Indivisible Winchester offers an opportunity for citizens to gather in common cause. We are coalition builders and are determined to have an impact in our community and beyond.”

Indivisible Winchester will provide a space for those opposed to the dismantling of the federal government, the trend of retribution and intimidation, abandonment of western allies, devastating trade wars and the wholesale gutting of American leadership. The group’s mission is collective action for a just and equitable future.
