On Wednesday, March 18, the Solo Ager Network will present “Staying STEADI – Fall Prevention and Safe Recovery Strategies for Aging in Place,” from 1:30 – 3 p.m., at the Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Road.
While falls are common in older adults, many are preventable — and perhaps even more importantly, there are ways to reduce your risk of serious injury by learning how to fall more safely.
In this engaging and practical session, physical therapist and owner of Healthy Aging Physical Therapy, Dr. Katie Wadland, PT, DPT, Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist will explain why we fall, how our balance systems change as we age, and how we can build safer habits at home and in everyday life.
Using the CDC’s evidence-based STEADI framework, Wadland will guide attendees through modern fall prevention strategies, fall preparedness planning, and safe recovery techniques solo agers can use if a fall does occur.
