Stephen Chandler named new president of Winchester Hospital

Stephen Chandler, MBA, has joined Winchester Hospital as its new president. Chandler is an accomplished health care leader with extensive experience in executive leadership across complex hospital organizations.  

“We are pleased to welcome Stephen to Winchester Hospital, where he will lead the hospital in its mission of delivering exceptional care in the community,” said Dean Carucci, divisional president, community, Beth Israel Lahey Health. “With his background of proven hospital leadership, I am confident that Winchester Hospital will continue to thrive.”

Chandler most recently served as CEO of HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital in South Carolina. Prior to this role, he held executive leadership positions at HCA Healthcare’s Henrico Doctors’ Hospital and LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, both located in Virginia.  

He is widely recognized for his collaborative leadership style, strong focus on employee and physician engagement, and deep commitment to the communities his hospitals serve.  

“I am excited to join the Winchester Hospital community and to uniquely contribute to our mission,” said Chandler. “Winchester Hospital has a terrific group of clinicians and dedicated caregivers, and I look forward to working with them and the team across Beth Israel Lahey Health.”

Before joining HCA, Chandler held a number of leadership roles in health care organizations, including as Chief Strategy Officer at The Hospitals of Providence – Transmountain Campus in El Paso, Texas. He began his career in health care at Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Chandler earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Louisiana State University and Master of Business Administration from Baylor University.
