The following was submitted by the Lexington Pops Chorus:

Understanding that music is the universal language that connects people and cultures around the world, Lexington Pops Chorus presents “Around the World in Song with Lexington Pops Chorus” on Friday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m. for these exciting performances at Pilgrim Congregational Church*, 55 Coolidge Ave. in Lexington.

This concert will feature many international musical selections and includes the following:

“Llwyn Onn” Welsh Folk Song, arr. by D. Owens

“Barso Re” from India by A.R. Rahman, arr. by E. Sperry

“Doluri (Drum Dance)” from the Republic of Georgia by A. Matchavariani, ed. by C. Parr

“MI-YO-TA” from Japan by S. Tanikawa & T. Takmitsu, arr. by R. Numajiri

“Time in a Bottle” by J. Croce, arr. by M. Huff

“Shenandoah” American Folk Song, arr. by J. Erb

Selections from “Letters from Ireland” arr. by M. Brymer

Concert tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the door (check or cash), from members, or online at www.LexPops.org (service charge applies online).

Lexington Pops Chorus is in its 44th season and enjoys the enthusiasm of singers from over 20 towns.

Maxwell Evrard is the chorus’s dynamic conductor. David Owens, the accompanist, is in his 22nd season with the chorus. Lexington Pops Chorus is a member of The Greater Boston Choral Consortium.

For singers interested in joining the group, free open rehearsals are held at the beginning of each semester at Hancock Church, 1912 Mass Ave., Lexington (on the Green).

Auditions are not required, but singers must be able to read music. The group sings a wide variety of music, including classical, jazz, blues, folk, Broadway, and more.
