To the Editor:
To my eye, the revised design for 972 Main St. is an improvement on the previous — approved — one.
It appears now to be made of a single material (one hopes all in a single color,) and with a much more unified massing of parts. The earlier design looks like parts of several other structures, in a variety of textures and colors, as if assembled from a sale on floor samples. (The intent may have been to appear like a series of row-houses.)
I also find the indented balconies an improvement over the added-on ones. I see better windows and better treatment of the ground floor.
It looks to me like the refinements are a step in the right direction.
