LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Art inside ‘graffiti tunnel’ is amazing, graffiti on Greenway not as bad as depicted

Table of Contents

To the Editor:

I run on the Tri-Community bike path from Winchester to Stoneham and beyond frequently.

I know people say graffiti leads to negative outcomes, but the article [“How graffiti detracts from bike paths: A spray-painted ride along the Tri-Community Greenway”] neglected to include how amazing the art is inside the “grafitti tunnel” under route 93. It’s amazing!

And don’t forget the importance of art. Art stimulates discussion, it’s freedom of expression, and I know plenty of folks who frequent that section of the bike path because of the graffiti.

I agree it’s too bad that the signs have graffiti on them, but I don’t think it’s quite as bad as you made it out to be.
