There are times in life when we should stop and enjoy the world around us. We here at Winchester News were reminded of that this week when a photographer named Raphaelle Cruz sent us this lovely note:

“Hello! I am a photographer working out of Lincoln, Massachusetts. I frequently come to Winchester in June to take pictures of the black-crowned night herons, who come to take advantage of the herring migration going through the waterfall each June.”

She then offered to send us her photos. And we took her up on it — and boy are we glad we did!

We hope you enjoy these photos of the heron around the Mill Pond fish ladder as much as we did. And be sure to check out Raphaelle’s Instagram page at @cruz.raphaelle
