The 2026 Winchester High girls tennis team had plenty to celebrate during its annual banquet at the Winchester Country Club on June 16.
For starters, the team compiled 22 wins, including three in the postseason. They also secured the second seed in the Division 1 state tournament, which all added up to a Final Four state championship trophy and banner.
They suffered just one loss all season long, and that was against Boston Latin in the state semifinals, 3-2.
Demonstrating how dominant they were, the entire Middlesex League Liberty Division all-star team was made up of their seven starters that includes Daryana Skobeleva (first singles), Andrea Bilic (second singles), Olivia Thompson (third singles), Esha Bhalla / Kaiyal Kumaran (first doubles) and Cate Sheehan / Mia Lock (second doubles).
They also made the All-League team with the exception of Thompson.
“I love so many things about (this) team,” said Coach Greg Lowder. “They’re an incredibly fun group to be around, but tennis-wise they never give up. They never stop fighting. It’s so admirable and inspiring (to watch).”
