Winchester residents invited to Somerville Democratic City Committee forum

The following was submitted by the Somerville Democratic City Committee:

On Saturday, Aug. 1, the Somerville Democratic City Committee will hold three debates for each of the open seat Democratic primaries: the 27th and 34th Middlesex House districts and 2nd Middlesex Senate district, from 5-8 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School.

Come hear from all nine candidates running to be the new legislators representing Somerville, Medford, Cambridge, and Winchester!

• 5 p.m.: 34th Middlesex State House debate: Will Mbah, Chris Oates, and Paul Ruseau

• 6 p.m.: 2nd Middlesex state Senate debate: Burhan Azeem, Christine Barber, Matthew McLaughlin, and Erika Uyterhoeven. Thomas Hopcroft has withdrawn from the race.

• 7 p.m.: 27th Middlesex state rep debate: Ben Ewen-Campen and Olivia Gilligan-Corsetti

There are no Republican, third party, or unenrolled candidates for any of these legislative districts, so the Sept. 1 Democratic Primary will be the decisive election.

All registered Democrats and unenrolled voters may vote on or before Sept. 1.
