The following was submitted by the campaign to elect Kate Lipper-Garabedian:

State Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian announced the endorsements of four leading labor organizations in her campaign for the 5th Middlesex District state Senate seat: Malden-based LiUNA Laborers' Local 22, the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA), Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers & Scientists (MOSES), and Carpenters Local 339.

These endorsements join Lipper-Garabedian's previously secured support from Iron Workers Local 7, Mass Retirees, and Boston Carmen's Union Local 589, building a coalition that spans the building trades, healthcare, and public sector workers.

“The Carpenters are proud to endorse Kate Lipper-Garabedian for Massachusetts state Senate. We believe she will be a strong advocate for policies that create good-paying jobs and strengthen our communities. Working families need leaders who understand the value of skilled trades people, Kate is that leader,” said Christopher Galatis, business representative, North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters.

“I am proud to earn the support of organized labor and the working people they represent,” said Lipper-Garabedian. “From the nurses caring for our families to the tradespeople building our communities to the men and women getting us safely where we need to go, these are the workers who keep the 5th Middlesex running every day. As state senator, I will continue to be a partner to organized labor and fight for policies that protect good jobs, safe workplaces, and economic security for working families.”

The new endorsements come as Lipper-Garabedian continues to build a broad coalition of support ahead of the September 1 Democratic primary, including the district’s full state legislative delegation, more than 30 local elected officials, and organizations including the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, Reproductive Equity Now, and Vote Mama.

Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian is a candidate in the Democratic primary for the 5th Middlesex District State Senate seat, which covers Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester (Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 8). The primary is Tuesday, Sept. 1.
