The following was submitted by the Lexington Pops Chorus:
The Lexington Pops Chorus will hold two free open rehearsals on Sept. 8 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Clark Hall at Hancock Church, 1912 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington.
The chorus invites new singers to join them in September and January, and they especially welcome new tenors.
Auditions are not required, but singers must be able to read music.
The chorus sings a wide variety of music, including classical, jazz, blues, folk, gospel, Broadway and more.
Winter concerts scheduled for Friday evening, Jan. 15, and Sunday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2027, will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat in D (BWV 243), A Gershwin Portrait, “Satin Doll”, “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, and other selections.
Spring concerts will be on Friday evening, May 21, and Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2027.
The group often has guest soloists and additional instrumentalists at concerts.
Lexington Pops Chorus is in its 45th season and enjoys the enthusiasm of singers from over 20 towns. Maxwell Evrard has been the chorus’s conductor/director for four years. John Tarrh has been the assistant conductor for 12 years. David Owens, accompanist, is in his 23rd season with the chorus.
Lexington Pops Chorus is a member of The Greater Boston Choral Consortium.
