What experiences and perspectives would you contribute to Town Meeting?
My wife and I have been Winchester residents for over 30 years. Our two daughters went through the Winchester school system. I worked as a Director of Quality Assurance at Oracle for 31 years, retiring in 2021, so I'm reasonably tech savvy. I'm currently Vice Chair of the Jenks Center's Council on Aging and am active in Winchester's First Congregational Church. During the summer, I can often be found playing tennis at Winchester's Packer-Ellis courts.
What are two or three issues facing Winchester that you think are most important and what are your positions on them?
Senior issues are very important to me. The Jenks Center (where I'm Vice Chair of the Council on Aging) is very active in promoting an age-friendly Winchester (https://www.jenkscenter.org/events/what-is-age-friendly-winchester). I support efforts to provide more housing that's conducive to senior needs, so that senior citizens can downsize their housing and remain in the Winchester community. I will also strive to ensure that the town of Winchester remains fiscally responsible.
What is a special challenge in your precinct that might not be faced in other precincts?
Many Precinct 5 home owners abut the Winchester Country Club, so WCC initiatives may affect Precinct 5 voters more than voters in other precincts.
Why should voters elect you to represent them?
I'm active in senior affairs and committed to ensuring that Winchester remains fiscally responsible.
