What experiences and perspectives would you contribute to Town Meeting?
I have had good attendance at the Winchester Town Meeting and I take the position seriously! I have an 8 year experience in the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and another 8 years as Special Assistant to the Massachusetts Attorney General! I have been Director of Community Education for the Somerville Community Schools. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree as a Government major from Boston University and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern University. I have been President of the Winchester Historical Society and the Sanborn House. I have been a very active member of the Democratic State Committee for 38 years and I am currently Chair of the Winchester Democratic Town Committee!!
What are two or three issues facing Winchester that you think are most important and what are your positions on them?
The Winchester Educational system needs constant support and enhancement and I am a very strong advocate for the upgrading of the Public Schools! My wife and I have had our three daughters go through the Winchester School system starting at the Vinson Owens School and our five grandchildren are in the school system or will be attending the Winchester schools.
Meeting the needs of the Elderly population of Winchester is crucial. I am strongly in favor of regular needs assessment and action plans to augment the Jenks Center and the Council of Aging to meet the needs of this growing population!
What is a special challenge in your precinct that might not be faced in other precincts?
Conservation and environmental concerns are very important to me! The land around the Vinson Owens School and diagonally across from the school needs to be forever cared for and protected for our future generations including for my three daughters and five grandchildren! The Wright-Locke Farm needs to be supported and enhanced. The Winchester Town Meeting and the Town Select Board and Municipal government must always be cognizant and caring for this asset and community resource!!
Why should voters elect you to represent them?
I and my family have enjoyed our 26 years of active participation in the Town of Winchester! As mentioned above we have participated in the educational system and town organizations. I was appointed by the Select Board to be one of three Winchester Registrar of Voters! I care about our Town of Winchester and would like Town residents to call, text, or email me at any time at 617-834-4300 or politicalguywin@comcast.net. Thank you very much for your consideration!!
