On Thursday, May 16, the Friends of the Winchester Library will host New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, from 7-8 p.m., at the library, 80 Washington St.

Join Gerritsen as she talks about her latest spy thriller, “The Spy Coast,” the story of Maggie Bird, a retired CIA operative from a small tow in Maine, as she tackles the ghosts of her past.

Internationally acclaimed author and filmmaker Gerritsen grew up dreaming of writing her own Nancy Drew novels. Then while on maternity leave as a physician, she wrote a short story, launching career as a writer.

She is the author of a series of novels featuring homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles, which inspired the series “Rizzoli & Isles.” Her books have been translated into 40 languages and more than 40 million copies have been sold around the world.

She lives in Maine.
