Winchester News’ application for a $20,000 grant has been approved after participating in the Google News Initiative’s Fundamentals Lab exclusively for Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) members.

The News participated in the program over the summer, which focused on the areas of audience development, reader revenue and advertising/sponsorships. Winchester News received personalized audits and attended learning sessions and working groups related to each topic area.

At the conclusion of the program, the News had to submit an implementation plan around at least one of the three topic areas and request the necessary funding for the plan. The $20,000 (maximum) request has been approved and the funds should be received by the end of the year.
