Winchester houses of worship celebrate holiday season

The holiday season is upon us and for residents of Winchester who are celebrating, the following houses of worship will be hosting events.

Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church

The Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church on Church Street, will offer services on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. and again at 9 p.m.

Both services will feature a retelling of the age-old Christmas story, singing beloved carols, and special music by Occasional Brass and Strings. They’ll also host a Christmas Carol Sing-along from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in front of the church.

First Congregational Church

The First Congregational Church’s children and youth will stage their annual Christmas Pageant during the worship service on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m.

Hope Christian Church

Hope Christian Church on Mt. Vernon Street will host a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m.

The Parish of the Epiphany

The Parish of the Epiphany on Christmas Eve will include three services:

The 4 p.m. service is the family Eucharist and Children’s Pageant, sung by the Choristers and Schola.

At 7 p.m., the church will offer a Sung Eucharist, and at 10 p.m., a Festal Eucharist, both featuring the Parish Choir and string quartet.

On Christmas Day at 10 a.m., the church will host a Sung Eucharist with the Schola.

St. Eulalia Parish

St. Eulalia Parish on Ridge Street offers several events.

On Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m., the parish will host a “Blue Christmas” prayer service for those “who are hurting during the holidays.”

On Sunday Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m., the youth ministry and the contemporary choir perform a multimedia presentation called, “Welcome the Child.”

Christmas Eve Masses will be at 4 and 6 p.m., and Christmas Day Masses will be at 9 and 11 a.m.

St. Mary Parish

St. Mary Parish on Washington Street will host Christmas Eve Masses at 4 and 10 p.m.,

Christmas Day Masses will be at 8, 10 and 11:30 a.m.

Winchester Unitarian Society

The Winchester Unitarian Society on Main Street will offer a Solstice Service and Caroling on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and Christmas Eve services at 4 and 7 p.m.
