Cradles to Crayons is looking for children’s new and nearly new clothing, according to Elena Varipatis Baker.

The McCall Girl Scout cadette troop is involved in collecting the donations, and its members will be sorting the clothes in late January.

The Crawford Memorial Methodist Church, at the corner of Dix and Church streets, has two boxes where residents can drop off their donations up until Jan. 26.

Baker says, “The organization provides clothing to a network of 100 service organizations throughout the state [which then goes] to families that are at 200% below the national poverty rate of $62,000.”

There’s also a donation bin in front of Lincoln School.

“The name Cradles to Crayons,” explains Baker, comes from the age range of the children. “We’re not looking for crayons although someone did once donate a cradle.”
