Winchester High School girls Nordic ski team wins first place

The Winchester High School girls Nordic ski team won first in the Mass Bay West Ski league. This has been an unprecedented season for the team.

The boys Nordic ski team placed third in the league.

The girls placement for the top five scorers goes to the following: Alta Oswald (1) Piper Oswald (5) Abigail Bastien (7) Caroline Lanz (10) and Heidi Ernst (12).

Other talented athletes on the team include: Leila Flummerfelt, Lila Beauchamp, Alanna Lee, Grace Siciliano, Rosie Smith, Lila Daly, Cecilia Torres, Sophie Camera-Murray, Helen Li, Maya Nossenson, and Lilliana Cox.

The boys placement for the top five scorers goes to the following: Michael Lanz (12) Jonathan Gilmer (14) Lukas Schemmel (15) Quinn Shanley (19) and Barrett Davidson (24).

Other talented athletes on the team include: Kuan Fu, Robert Torres, and John Eichelberger.

In States, Alta Oswald got 9th for girls and Abigail Bastien got 17th.

On top of an incredible performance, the team, coached by Scott Carlson, is known to be welcoming and have great competitors. Joining the team takes no previous experience and is very fun.

This is a great accomplishment to win such a competitive league as well as get four athletes in the top 10.
