Paatchi is a rescue from Dubai, United Arab Emirates whom my husband David Keeney and I adopted when we were living and working in the Middle East.
He is 9 years old.
We found him abandoned in a scorching hot Dubai desert weather at the tennis courts where our daughters Petra, Nadya and Lola were training for their tennis tournaments with their tennis coach.
Seeing how affectionate Paatchi was at the tennis courts with our girls and feeling empathetic for his condition at the time, they fell in love with him.
Our girls were also at the time volunteering for a TNR – Trap and Release program spay neuter initiative for cats in Dubai as part of their school project and they decided to bring him home.

He was pretty emaciated when they found him so we took him to the vet, nursed him back to health and he’s been with us ever since. He was pretty skittish and was not friendly to our other two cats at first but he eventually settled down as time passes.
He flew home to the United States with our family when our work assignments ended, and has been a Winchester resident since 2022.
Our girls love him dearly. He loves to purr. His purring sounds like a loud motor engine and he also chirps and coos. When he tries to communicate with us, he sounds more like a baby lamb bleating, making baa-ing trills and sounds instead of meowing, he is very human-like and loves to hang out with us on our beds or on soft carpets around the house, he loves loafing, sleeps on his back with his limbs spread apart exposing his belly, and kneads his paws onto his humans when he’s feeling relaxed and contented.
We have a lot of indoor house plants in our home and he absolutely loves hanging out around the plants, hiding, or sheltering around the greenery or sleeping under the foliage.
Paatchi is quite the helper whenever we are repotting plants in the home. He loves snacking on Orijen Six Fish freeze-dried cat treats and drinks plenty of running water from his dedicated pet water fountain. He also prefers being around our female cat rather than the male cat, he gets jealous of the male cat, and we think he secretly prefers to be the only pet in the house.
He is not afraid and is opinionated most of the time and you can tell by his stares and his baa-ing sounds. Paatchi is silly when he is in his zoomies and has brought a lot of joy to our family. We love Paatchi dearly.
