As we enjoy the heat of summer, it’s almost time for Winchester’s wonderful annual tradition of Art in August!

Sponsored by the Winchester Cultural Council (WCC), Art in August pairs Winchester artists with local merchants and businesses throughout downtown Winchester as they feature artwork in windows and/or inside shops throughout August.

It’s a great way to celebrate the arts during a quiet summer month.

Everyone is invited to a grand kickoff reception at the Griffin Museum of Photography on Thursday, July 31. Some artists will be holding receptions at their host businesses on one of the Thursday nights in August as well.

It’s not too late for Winchester artists or businesses to sign up to participate as part of Art in August! Information and registration can be found online at artinaugust.org (hosted on the WCC website). As with prior editions of Art in August, there is no charge for participation this year.

Additionally, the WCC is planning again to sponsor Art in the Park on Saturday, Aug. 16, a community arts festival on Winchester Common in connection with the Farmers Market. Artists will be on hand to show their work, sell their art, and assist with activities.
