In a tribute to the Woburn-based Cummings organization, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu officially declared June 26 “Cummings Foundation Day.”

Mayoral Advisor Stephen Chan presented the proclamation during Cummings Foundation’s Grant Winner Celebration, held that day at TradeCenter 128.

The event marked the culmination of the Foundation’s annual grant cycle, through which it awarded $30 million to 150 greater Boston nonprofits.

“This celebration highlights the substantial unique contributions of Cummings Foundation to the civic fabric of Boston and our Commonwealth, and its dedication to ensuring that the Commonwealth remains a home for everyone,” said Chan, speaking on behalf of Mayor Wu.

The proclamation recognized the Foundation’s role in advancing opportunity and improving lives across the region.

Established in 1986 by Winchester residents Joyce and Bill Cummings, Cummings Foundation has awarded more than $600 million to local nonprofits, with a primary focus on eastern Massachusetts. Its annual $30 Million Grant Program provides multi-year funding to organizations that are driving meaningful, measurable progress in their communities.

“We are deeply honored by this extraordinary recognition from Mayor Wu and the city of Boston,” said Joyce Vyriotes, executive director of Cummings Foundation. “It is a meaningful acknowledgement of Cummings Properties’ dedicated staff as well as its more than 2,000 leasing clients, as these two groups are key to making the Foundation’s philanthropy possible.”

Additional information about Cummings Foundation, including eligibility requirements and instructions to submit a funding proposal for the newly launched 2026 grant cycle, is available at www.CummingsFoundation.org.
