Looking for some extra fun this Halloween season? The Winchester Unitarian Society is thrilled to be hosting a Haunted House for all ages this year on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saturday, Nov. 1, from 6-9 p.m., at 478 Main St.

The church’s old stone and brick building will be transformed into Dr. Feverdream’s Sleep Experiment, an immersive experience featuring two unique paths. Younger guests — and anyone who prefers a milder adventure — are invited to explore the whimsical Dream Space, visiting an alien planet, while “patients” (suggested for ages 12 and up) are invited to brave the thrilling Nightmare Lair.

Tickets will be available at the door for $15 per person.

A variety of delicious treats will be on sale in Dr. Feverdream’s “waiting room” where visitors will gather before being guided through their chosen experience.

A portion of the proceeds will support the Winchester Unitarian Society Youth Group (“WUSYG”) annual service trip where youth will volunteer with an organization serving one of the most economically challenged communities in the country, helping residents with home repair projects.

In years past, the youth group created a haunted house experience for members and friends of the congregation. The Winchester Unitarian Society is excited to expand on this tradition, opening it to the public while also carrying forward the spirit (and many of the props!) from the long-running and beloved Haunted House event formerly hosted by the Bedford Unitarian Universalist congregation.

“We’re thrilled to build on the legacy of the Bedford UU Congregation by hosting a Haunted House at the Winchester Unitarian Society. It is a huge gift that the key organizers of that event are passing their experience and amazing handmade props to us to carry on the fun,” says Sam Wilson, director of Youth and Children’s Ministries at W.U.S. “I always tell the teens that W.U.S. likes to put lots of FUN in our fundraising, and this may be the most fun we’ve ever had! It’s been such a joy to see people of all ages come together — connecting across generations to do something creative, silly, and wonderful.”

Come join W.U.S. for some extra Halloween excitement before or after trick-or-treating on Friday, or to continue the Halloween spirit on Saturday.  Dr. Feverdream and his assistants will be eager to guide you through the alien Dream Space, or – if you dare – to participate in his Nightmare Lair!!”
