The Winchester High cross-country teams participated in the annual Middlesex League All-12 Meet at the Woburn Country Club on Oct. 27. The meet helps decides on who makes all-stars that will be determined after the coaches meet up sometime this month.

All 12 league teams run together in this meet, and after the scores were added up, the Winchester girls placed second, only 16 points behind first-place Lexington.

“We had two runners in the Top 7 – junior Julia Ramsey (second) and freshman Millie McDonald (seventh) – and as a result they both earned All-League honors,” said Coach Kirsten Healey.

The Winchester boys finished fourth, beating out among others Belmont, who defeated them during the regular season.

The Top 30 runners in the freshman and JV races received medals for their efforts, while varsity runners had to end up in the Top 20.

Freshmen Maddy Baynes (third) and Caitrin Newman (sixth) were among that group of medalists in their rookie high school Middlesex League race.

Eli Proschitsky (26), Max Liu (29) and Noah Dollard (30) were credited with Top 30 finishes in the JV boys race. Ella Newbert (7), Lila Daly (8), Josie McCabe (9), Grave Siciliano (25), Ellie Nguy (26) and Avery Jiang (28) did the same in the girls JV run.

Junior Noah Damaske (11) and sophomore Tyler Bernstein (15) were among the medalists in the boys varsity race. Junior Julia Ramsey (2), freshman Millie McDonald (7), freshman Chloe Chan (10), sophomore Caroline Lanz (11), senior Michelle Su (15) and junior Abigail Bastien (18) also finished at the top of the pack in the girls varsity race.

The Winchester harriers will now take part in the state divisional meet on Saturday, Nov. 8, on the Wrentham Development Center Cross-Country Course. The All-State Meet, where all divisions come together, will then be held on the following Saturday, Nov. 15, at Fort Devens’ Willard Park Field.
