Indivisible Winchester (IndivisibleWIN) is proud to announce that renowned public policy scholar, author, and democracy advocate Danielle Allen will headline its December guest speaker program at the Winchester Public Library on Monday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public; doors open at 5:30 p.m. RSVP here.
Allen will present “What Comes After No Kings? Five Things We Can Do for Democracy,” a timely and accessible exploration of the policy innovations, civic investments, and institutional updates needed to sustain a healthy American democracy.
Drawing from her book “Justice by Means of Democracy” and her leadership with the Coalition for Healthy Democracy, Allen will outline practical steps citizens and communities can take to “renovate” democratic life—reconnecting people to civic participation and ensuring political institutions deliver responsive, accountable representation.
Allen is a distinguished leader in public policy and public affairs, an author, a democracy reform advocate, and a mom. Across her academic work and her civic leadership, Allen focuses on democracy renovation — rethinking how we invest in our political culture, institutions, and civic infrastructure so every person has the tools needed to be an effective citizen.
She is the author of several acclaimed books, including “Our Declaration” and “Justice by Means of Democracy,” with her forthcoming title “Radical Duke: How One Aristocrat—and the American Revolution—Transformed Britain” arriving soon.
A former Washington Post columnist, she now writes for The Renovator.
Allen is also the convening chair for the Coalition for Healthy Democracy, the ballot committee working to place an all-party primary and stronger public records transparency measures on the Massachusetts 2026 ballot.
She is a founder of multiple civic organizations including the Civics and History Inquiry Partnership, Educating for American Democracy, and Partners In Democracy.
