Shannon Scott-Vernaglia, Precinct 4

Table of Contents

My name is Shannon Scott-Vernaglia and I’m excited to be running for reelection to Town Meeting representing Precinct 4.

I moved to Winchester in 2003 with my husband Brian Vernaglia.  We raised our two children who here who benefited from the Winchester Public Schools and are now thriving in college.  We love this gem of a community, and both strive to give of ourselves to support our neighbors in varied ways.  Professionally, I am a primary care pediatrician practicing at MGH and working in medical education at Harvard Medical School.

In addition to being an active Town Meeting member, I am pleased to serve on the Winchester Board of Health.  In both roles, I value hearing from neighbors about their concerns and hopes for the town and work to represent the diverse perspectives of my constituents.

Communication through email and 1:1 conversations are welcome and important in order to ensure I’m thinking about different and varied perspectives on the issues I am asked to vote on.  Each session of Town Meeting as we are asked to think carefully about expenditures, our hard-working volunteer boards and committees as well as the Town Manager bring thoughtful recommendations to the floor.  Through preparation before Town Meeting, conversation with other neighbors in my Precinct and listening during Town Meeting I seek to carefully consider each item.

If re-elected, I look forward to supporting our town’s growth being mindful of the importance of affordability for all, including families and seniors, and the maintenance of the Town’s character and open spaces.
