The following was submitted by Vincent Lawrence Dixon:

“Exploring American History, and The Rule of Law, are important not just to our past, but also our present, and our future,” said Vincent Lawrence Dixon, as he announces the premiere of “The Vince Dixon Show,” which will appear on WinCAM, in Winchester, and other communities; including at least Stoneham, and Melrose; and will be available by means of YouTube, and other links.

“In our present time, The Rule of Law, is very much being challenged, and intersects in dramatic legal confrontations, with debates about ‘The Purposes Of Government,’ which we see in Federal United States Courts, in State Courts, in many discussions, and across many demonstrations,” continued Dixon.

Dixon is a well-recognized historian, who has presented a variety of subjects, and topics, over a number of years, to the Winchester Historical Society, the Cambridge Historical Society, the Sudbury Militia, and the Wilson Science & Technology Forum; as well as teaching, and tutoring in various venues.

He is the historian of the Wilson Science & Technology Forum, which is broadcast twice monthly, from Winchester, and has as its goals:

A) to provide a platform in our technology intense world for the public to understand the evolution of technology that impacts their lives; and

B) to engage teachers and especially students who will determine our technology future to make wise decisions as they grow into our social fabric.

Among a wide portfolio of presentations, Dixon has delivered programs on: The History of Vaccination – Immunization & Disease Prevention; America’s 250th; Houses of Worship & Communities of Faith; and on Sports History.

Dixon’s own educational background, is substantial, and varied. Home Schooled by his parents, from Kindergarten through high school; he earned his Associate in Arts (A.A.), and Bachelor of Arts (A.B., with honors), from Harvard University Extension School; and his Master of Education (Ed.M.) from Harvard Graduate School of Education. During his college, and university education, he also took coursework at Radcliffe Institute, and Harvard Law School.

“I have been fortunate, to have experienced great educational minds, and had the opportunity to learn from them. It is my hope that this rebirth of a show, that I had done many years ago, will again provide opportunities for viewers, and listeners, to share some of my knowledge, and some of my insights, from history, through the context of our current events, and looking towards our futures,” said Dixon.

Ron Latanision, co-host of “The Vince Dixon Show,” is an emeritus professor of materials science and engineering at MIT, and is currently Neil Armstrong Distinguished Visiting professor at Purdue University.

He served as a science advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology in Washington, was later appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the U.S. Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board and then reappointed to a second four-year term by President Barack Obama.

Latanision says in part: “Too often these days, deception, distraction, and delay are political tactics that are, in my view, enabled by information technology in the form of social media. People are just overwhelmed by all of this and it is becoming more threatening.

“Vince and I share the hope that we can provide people with a sense of how to emerge from the current state of affairs, as a civil and respectful society, based on an understanding and appreciation of our history,” said Latanision.

Initially, the show will be taped for broadcast, monthly, but will eventually be available more frequently.

DID YOU KNOW: What is an Override?

In Massachusetts, property tax overrides are generally governed by Proposition 2 ½, a state law (M.G.L. Ch. 59, § 21C) that limits the amount of revenue a municipality may raise from property taxes (limit is based on the total of all categories of real property and business owned personal property)
