LETTER TO THE EDITOR: En Ka thanks the Winchester community

Table of Contents

To the editor:

The En Ka Society extends a HUGE heartfelt thank you to the Town of Winchester, local businesses, and individuals who graciously contributed to the success of this year’s En Ka Fair, “Rock the Smock.” Your unwavering support each year enables us to enrich so many in our community.

Our gratitude to Town Manager Chris Senior, Community Engagement Coordinator Jenn Cafarella, and all the Town Hall personnel for guiding us through the fair approval process. Thank you to the Select Board for their support. And thank you to WHS administration for working with us on the Parade and for providing extra parking.

Thanks to the Winchester Police, Fire, and Public Works departments for ensuring the safety of our fair goers, particularly Safety Officer Frank Batchelor; Fire Chief Steve Osborne; DPW Director Bob LaBossiere and the entire DPW staff, especially Jimmy DiTullio.

Much appreciation to the Council of Aging and the Jenks Center for continued use of their facility. A big shout out to Nick Asaro and his staff, Jeff, Fred and Scott who assisted us all weekend.

Thanks to Hope Christian Church for allowing us to use their beautiful lawn for “Lawn Tents” (Games, Bakery, Jewelry, and Candy Land) and the outlet for the DJ.

Thank you to Mahoney’s Garden Center for holding the annual En Ka Day at Mahoney’s-we appreciate your support!

To the businesses and organizations that contributed time and goods, we are most grateful.

Special thanks to: A Borrowed Chef and Chef Kim Lambrechts (you really saved us!), Katie Bettencourt (that poster!), St. Mary’s Parish, Nardone Electric, Nowell Moving and Storage, Piantedosi Baking Company, D’Agostinos, Scouts of America, The Girl Scouts, Winchester Savings Bank, Gentle Giant, The Produce Connection, Wegman’s, Winchester Cooperative Bank, Brian Smillie Candy, Winchester High School Music Department, Tri-M Music Society, WHS Fells Club, Spa Revenir, Artie Simms of Simms II Jewelry, Edward Jones and Crawford Memorial Methodist Church Parish of the Epiphany.

Thank you to all the community members who volunteered to lend a hand with rides, games, tickets, cashiers and all over the Fair, including the WHS and McCall Art Department students who painted faces for us and the Winchester Boat Club who staffed our Ferris Wheel!

Kudos to our Men Ka volunteers for keeping the peace.

Deepest gratitude to our Rockwell Amusements partners of many decades: Harold, Talia, Ellie, and John. We know we are different from all of your other fairs and we appreciate your flexibility and incredible generosity!

To all the women of En Ka who worked tirelessly to make this fair a success, and to all of their volunteers who donated time, we are enormously grateful. Your dedication year after year is the reason we are able to fulfill our mission of serving the Winchester community.

With deepest appreciation,

Carey Sue Barney and Mary Scott, 2026 En Ka Fair Chairs
