On Sunday, June 14, the Network for Social Justice will hold a PRIDE Tea Dance, from 2-4 p.m., at the Griffin Museum of Photography, 67 Shore Road.

The event rain date is Saturday, June 20.

What is a “Tea Dance?” A play on the English countryside tradition, tea dances were a way for queer people to gather when it was illegal for bars to serve them alcohol; the dances provided a means to circumvent the oppressive law and still be able to connect.

The Griffin Museum of Photography and the Network for Social Justice are hosting Winchester’s first PRIDE Tea Dance.

It is open to all ages and will feature drag queen Maxine Harrison as DJ. Arlington Brewing Co. will offer beer and there will also be mocktails and nonalcoholic drinks.

Supervision and games will be provided for children, and tickets cost $25 for anyone 21 years of age and up.
