Winchester residents celebrate summer at Concerts on the Common

Hotter than normal temperatures and poor air quality from wildfires in Canada have pushed back Concerts on the Common this summer.

But as the heat dropped and the air cleared, Winchester residents showed up on the Town Common on July 23 to rock out with Surfhenge, a band made up of members of the Winchester Community Music School.

Our photographer Nicole Goodhue Boyd checked out the Surfhenge concert and grabbed these photos of Winchester residents enjoying the music and each other.

The Recreation Department holds the Concerts on the Common on Wednesdays, beginning at 6:30 p.m. during the summer.

The following are the concerts still to come:

• July 29: Perfect Crime, best of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s

• Aug. 5: Kier Byrnes and The Kettle Burners, Americana

• Aug. 12: Blues Dogs, Blues band

This year’s concert sponsors are the following: En Ka Society, Winchester Co-operative Bank, Winchester Savings Bank, John’s Landscaping, Rotary Club of Winchester and PDA Dental Group.
