Clean Water Action has endorsed Rep. Christine P. Barber, D-Somerville, for state Senate in the 2nd Middlesex District.
“Christine Barber has been our top legislative champion on Air Quality legislation,” said Cynthia Mendes, state director for Clean Water Action Massachusetts. “As an aide, as an advocate, and as a legislator, Rep. Barber has built a career on putting wins on the board for our health and environment. She is proof that when we fight, we win. I can’t wait to see what she does next, in the Senate.”
“I hold myself to the standard of not just sharing environmental values, but converting them into law,” said Barber. “The Second Middlesex District deserves a senator who can deliver on clean air, clean water, and a just transition for utility workers to green jobs. I will be proud to continue to work alongside Clean Water Action and its members.”
Barber’s environmental priorities include:
- Advancing climate resilience, flood control and environmental justice.
- Enacting air quality legislation to protect communities near transit corridors.
- Protecting parks and public lands.
- Rapid buildout of offshore wind, solar and storage.
- Continuing to pass meaningful environmental legislation.
Primary election day is Sept. 1.
