The Winchester High School girls soccer program once again volunteered at the Dwelling Place in Woburn on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The Dwelling Place, located at the United Methodist Church, is an important community outreach program that provides weekly meals to those in need.
This year marked the 11th consecutive year that the Red & Black have been involved with this charity. It all began under the leadership of former coach Rick Emmanuel, and it continues to be a priority for the team’s current coach Michelle Ross.
Giving back to the community that supports them is a core value of the WHS girls soccer program, and it takes great pride in using its time and energy to make a difference beyond the pitch.
The players have done and continue to do far more than simply serving meals. They also help prepare and cook the food, before putting together approximately 80 meals for the guests.
But it didn’t stop there. They then engaged with each guest during dinner to make them feel welcomed, which was just as meaningful for both parties as the dinner itself.
It was another wonderfully successful evening that included great weather, great food and inspiring teamwork among the WHS soccer girls, prompting one guest to remark, “I feel like I am at a five-star restaurant.”
The Winchester High girls are not only impressive with their play on the pitch, but also with their character, compassion and commitment in the community at-large.
