What experiences and perspectives would you contribute to Town Meeting?
I have lived in Winchester for over 10 years and have been very active in Town activities, including:
- Capital Planning Committee: 2 years (2025-present)
- Finance Committee: 5 years (2018-2024), Chair (2021), Vice Chair (2020)
- Town Meeting Member (2021, 2022, 2024-2026)
- Winchester Town Manager Search Committee Chair (2022)
- Winchester Transfer Station Working Group (2022)
- Energy Management Committee, Finance Committee Rep (2019-2020)
What are two or three issues facing Winchester that you think are most important and what are your positions on them?
Our biggest challenge as a Town is balancing our property tax level with rising town costs, especially for our capital program and schools. Winchester already has one of the highest average tax bills per household in Massachusetts, increasing next year with the recent Lynch override. It’s critical that we prioritize our goals and make balanced decisions across several key areas:
- Ensuring our schools remain a key asset and great place for our children to thrive
- Funding and maintaining our town buildings, roads, Transfer Station, and other infrastructure
- Diversifying our tax base to include more commercial revenue opportunities
What is a special challenge in your precinct that might not be faced in other precincts?
Precinct 1 is very focused on making sure we get a new Muraco school build started in the next couple of years, as well as supporting the school and the current students in the interim. The upcoming override will go a long way to putting more investment in the school curriculum, especially with a new literacy program, while at the same time making needed capital investments across several key projects in Town.
Why should voters elect you to represent them?
With having served in a variety of positions across town government over the last 8 years, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge about Winchester's current issues and challenges. My time with Finance Committee and now Capital Planning especially have given me a unique understanding of Winchester's finances. This year I was also proud to serve on the State of the Town Committee to do an in-depth look at Winchester's current status across the government from a fiscal and policy perspective. I look forward to bringing that experience to Town Meeting and ask for your vote.
