Arts Winchester (AWI) installed a new sculpture March 28 – “Vertical Water” by Karin Stanley – at Riverwalk Sculpture Park.

Arts Winchester’s Visual Arts Director Cynthia Randall describes “Vertical Water” as “beautiful and a such a great transition piece from the photographic lens at the Griffin Museum, to our sculpture park!”

“Vertical Water” was made possible by the Winchester Community ARPA grant.

Stanley is an Irish born artist and garden designer who takes her inspiration from the changing landscape in Ireland and Scotland into her practices in garden sculpture, design, and poetry.

A sculptor since 1995, Stanley has given lectures at the New England Flower show and the Philadelphia Flower show, the Arnold Arboretum and various clubs on the Irish and Scottish Gardens. She also organizes tours to the Arnold Arboretum for Harvard University and various private groups.

Stanley resides in Massachusetts.

Planning is underway for the plantings to complete the Sculpture Park. AWI was awarded a generous grant from the En Ka Society for the plantings.

AWI is excited to finish that part of the project so it can open the park officially. Save May 10 on your calendars! It will be an eventful day at the Griffin Museum/Riverwalk Sculpture Park.

AWI will officially open the park alongside an eventful day at the Griffin, but is still working on the details and will reach out as soon as they are settled.

In other news, AWI added a new Call for Art for next winter’s Light Show.  There are currently three active Calls for Art/Artists. Please help spread the word!
