Locally-based artist Trish Gannon will be exhibiting her original pastels, as well as acrylic mono-prints, throughout September via Winchester Public Library’s monthly artist program.

The exhibit is entitled “Bright and Brilliant Garden Glories” and features approximately 20 original pastels, as well as 10 acrylic mono-prints, each uniquely printed to highlight intricate botanicals.

A member of the Winchester Artists’ Network, Gannon takes her inspiration as an artist from the beauty of nature, gardens and flowers. This appreciation has driven her creative interests throughout life, which have included many pursuits over the years from charcoal drawing and calligraphy, to decorative arts, poetry and photography.

She credits her late mother for both her artistic talents and her appreciation of the beauty of nature.

Gannon received much of her training as an artist from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, and also studied drawing in Bath, England. She shares that she hadn’t worked in pastels since her college days, but “During the pandemic, I rediscovered my passion for pastels — thanks to a Zoom program offered by the Winchester Library in the winter of ‘20-21. It was this one-night Zoom class that reignited my love for this medium.”

She expanded her repertoire more recently, incorporating botanical mono-printing with acrylics after taking a course in Naples, Fla. She now pursues pastels, mono-printing and photography — all focused on the florals and nature motifs that offer inspiration.

One of her photos currently can be seen on the Town Common as part of the Griffin Museum of Photography’s “Our Town” exhibit.
