Residents in several Winchester neighborhoods are reporting a rash of car break-ins that occurred June 9, with home security footage appearing to show a white vehicle dropping off individuals who then rifled through parked cars.

The break-ins were reported on Yale Street and Albamont Road, with residents saying the incidents occurred between roughly 2:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.

At least three residents said they captured the activity on Ring or Nest home security cameras, and several posted footage to a local Facebook group warning neighbors to lock their cars.

Multiple residents described seeing the same white vehicle in their security videos, dropping off people at different points along Yale Street and nearby roads within the same window of time. Another resident said her family’s cars were broken into overnight on a nearby street.

Discussion among residents online also turned to whether homeowners should confront suspects themselves, with some cautioning against it.

One resident urged neighbors instead to compile locations and times from their security footage so police could target patrols, noting most of the break-ins appeared to happen in spots with quick access to major roads.
