On Friday, April 11, Winchester resident Peter G. Engeldrum will present “The Colonel,” from 1-3 p.m., at the Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Road, Winchester.

“The Colonel” is a film of the story of William Parsons Winchester, the namesake of the Town of Winchester. It chronicles the Winchester family from the first ancestor landing in Boston in 1625 through their successful businesses, and William meeting the King of France as The Colonel.

The film was created by Engeldrum, who also made the well received “Winchester’s Ghost Railroad” and “The Great Wall of Winchester.”

The portrait of William Parsons Winchester that emerges is an educated and wealthy, but generous, man. Leaving some surprises for the first viewers of the film, Engeldrum asks, “But why was he called The Colonel? and why did he give money to the Town of Winchester?”
