Winchester Committee on Community Preservation launches Community Preservation Act pilot

The Winchester Committee on Community Preservation (WCCP) is pleased to announce the launch of the town’s activities under the Massachusetts Community Preservation Act (CPA), passed by the residents of Winchester in November 2024.

This summer, the WCCP will begin gathering community input to determine its funding priorities and will accept proposals for a pilot round of funding at Fall 2025 Town Meeting. We anticipate a public hearing for discussion on June 26.

Initial applications for this round of CPA funding are requested by July 7. The application form and instructions will be available by June 19 on the town’s WCCP website. During July, the WCCP will work with initial applicants to refine their applications. All applications are due by Aug. 1. They will be reviewed subsequently for presentation of those selected to Town Meeting.

In this funding round, we hope to make up to $800,000 available for CPA —allowable projects across the categories of historic preservation, open space and recreation, and affordable housing, contingent upon the number and quality of applications received.

Following this pilot funding round, CPA applications are expected to be accepted annually in January for review and funding approval at that year’s Fall Town Meeting.

The WCCP is excited to launch the CPA in Winchester and welcomes town citizens to submit your proposals to improve the quality of life in Winchester!
