Fire crews found the fire coming through the roof of the home on arrival, having burned into the attic and causing the roof to cave in. A second alarm was rung at that point.

No one was injured in the fire.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene to investigate and no cause has been determined as of yet.

Mutual aid was received from Woburn, Stoneham, Lexington, Medford and Arlington.

The Winchester Firefighter’s Union IAFF Local #1564 posted both Medic 1 and Engine 1 were out of service on other emergencies, leaving only five firefighters to fight the blaze.

The union thanked mutual aid companies for providing “critical support to bring the incident under control.”

Residents on the Winchester Facebook Resident page have already mobilized to bring supplies to the family. However, neighbors said that while the family is “super appreciative” of the offers, they are still “processing everything” and are not yet sure what they might need.
