While the holiday season brings joy and togetherness, it can also present unique challenges for aging loved ones. Between traveling, visiting family, and navigating unfamiliar environments, older adults may face increased risks — especially related to falls, cluttered spaces, unfamiliar visitors, and disrupted routines.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 5–6 p.m., the Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Road, presents Dr. Katie Wadland, PT, DPT, board-certified geriatric clinical specialist and owner of Healthy Aging Physical Therapy, who will share her top tips and tricks, along with some excellent holiday gift ideas that support aging in place.
From assistive technology to smart lighting to other clever devices, Wadland offers practical, budget-friendly solutions that can significantly enhance safety, comfort, and independence at home.
This talk is ideal for partners, caregivers and anyone supporting older adults, especially during the busy holiday season. Attendees will walk away with tangible tools, creative ideas, and a renewed perspective on how small changes can make a big difference in the lives of the seniors they care for.
This program is offered through generous funding from Winchester Mount Vernon House to the Winchester Council on Aging for caregiver support resources.
