Book Ends, 559 Main St., Winchester, will be hosting a number of events throughout December. All events are free to the public unless noted. Check out the following events:

Dec. 3: Wine Wednesday Class: Sparkling Wine, 7 p.m.

Cost: $50

Join Book Ends for a special edition of our monthly wine class at the bookstore!

Sparkling wine can be too expensive, feel too fancy, or seem like it’s only for mixing with orange juice — but it can also be the most rewarding, thrilling, and interesting drinking experiences.

Come learn how to sort out the good value and delicious wines from the overpriced and overhyped one, how to pair sparkling wine with food, and how to find the bottles to share with or gift to your loved ones this season.

Dec. 4: Polar Express Bedtime Story, 5:30 p.m.

Book Ends’ annual bedtime reading of Chris Van Allsberg’s winter classic, “The Polar Express,” is back and festive as ever! Don your coziest pjs and join us for an evening of cocoa and holiday cheer.

Dec. 6: Yule Ball, 3 p.m.

Save the date for Book Ends’ 4th annual Yule Ball!

Come for an afternoon of merriment and bookish joy as Book Ends kicks off the holiday season — there will be signings with local authors, beer tasting, and a wine tasting led by Book Ends’ co-owner Lauren.

3-4 p.m.: Book signing with authors Vasilisa Drake (“A Bargain So Bloody”) and Annie of Sable Sorensen (“Dire Bound”)

4-5 p.m.: Hank Phillippi Ryan (“All This Could Be Yours”) and Stephanie Burns (“Far From the A-List”)

5-6 p.m.: Charlie Cummings (“Craft Brewing May Not Be For You”) and Tom Acitelli (“The Golden Age of Beer: A 52-Week Guide to the Perfect Beer for Every Week of the Year”)

• Dec. 7: Holiday Storytime with Matt Tavares, 10 a.m.

Book Ends is thrilled to welcome back author, illustrator, and beloved Winchester-native, Matt Tavares, for a special Sunday morning story time and drawing demo featuring Matt’s latest Dasher story, Dasher and the Polar Bear.

PLEASE NOTE: All signings will be done after the reading and presentation. For those interested solely in getting signed books, we highly encourage pre-orders (with or without personalization) via our website or in-store for easy post-event pickup.
