Winchester neighborhoods will once again come alive with music as Porchfest returns for its sixth year on Saturday, June 13, from 12 to 5 p.m. (rain date Sunday, June 14).

Organizers invite residents to be part of this beloved community tradition by signing up to perform or host. The deadline to sign up is May 31.

Winchester Porchfest is a free, one-day celebration when front lawns, porches, and driveways become performance venues. The event brings together artists of all experience levels and genres with residents enjoying the vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.

“Porchfest is about more than music. It’s about community,” says Shiva Barton, who co-founded Winchester Porchfest in 2021 and performs with his band Sounds Like Chicken. “It’s a chance for neighbors to meet, for local musicians to share their talent, and for the whole town to celebrate the arts.”

Hosts are encouraged to sign up to offer their outdoor space as a stage — a unique Porchfest experience. Hosts determine what times their site is available and select acts through the website.

Musicians can register to perform, whether solo or as part of a band. All styles and skill levels are encouraged to sign up. Poets, storytellers, and dancers are also welcome.

In its few short years, Winchester Porchfest has developed a reputation for great acts and enthusiastic audiences. Last year’s event featured over 45 performances at more than 20 venues.

Memorable past acts have included a 12-person ukulele ensemble, Brazilian dancing, a historical interpreter, and a seven-year-old violinist. With dozens of performances expected throughout town, there is truly something for everyone.

New this year, the day will culminate in a finale celebration at the Griffin Museum at 5:30 p.m. This performance will bring everyone together to close out the event in style.

Participation in Winchester Porchfest is free, but advance registration is required for musicians and hosts. Attendees do not need to register. A schedule of performances will be available on the website as of June 1.
